Our Food Safety Services
Our feed and food safety laboratories specialize in chemical, biochemical, microbiological and sensory analysis for a wide range of foodstuffs, baby food, organic food, food ingredients, food supplements and food contact materials.
Our laboratories are equipped with cutting-edge technologies that enable us to determine the presence of a wide range of contaminants in food, such as pesticide residues, mycotoxins, process contaminants (3-MCPD, acrylamide, furans etc.), persistent organic pollutants (POPs, IPA, dioxin, PCB etc.), drugs and heavy metals.
Our testing services help identify the nutritional composition of food, food supplements, and feedstuffs in terms of their macro elements content and qualitative properties. Nutritional tests include the determination of proteins, carbohydrates, fibers, fats, vitamins, minerals and a wide range of phytochemicals.
Food Contact Materials Testing
The safety of Food Contact Materials (FCM) is a key part of food safety. We define and perform compliance tests for materials intended to come into contact with food products. The samples analysed include all categories of materials, such as plastics, paper and paperboard, stainless steel, metals and alloys, ceramics and other FCM. We carry out migration tests (overall and specific), NIAS screening analyses, as well as research of contaminants into FCM.
Allergens and GMO Testing
We employ molecular biology techniques (such as Elisa, RT-PCR, LC-MS/MS) for the determination of GMOs, allergens and identification of animal, plant, and bacterial species.
Our microbiology tests help detect and ensure food is free from pathogenic and non-pathogenic organisms. Our laboratories are designed and built according to strict structural criteria, in order to avoid cross contamination and any accidental contamination of tested products.
Each of our laboratories is ISO/IEC 17025 accredited from national domestic accreditation bodies, on a series of parameters covering either a section or the full value chain from the farm to the fork.
They are equipped with the very latest technologies in this sector and subjected to continuous internal and external quality controls. These include overarching quality control procedures as defined in the ISO/IEC 17025 standard (samples registration phase, samples traceability, equipment performance tests and reference materials management), routine internal quality controls, proactive analytical methods development, validation and accreditation processes, and numerous inter-laboratory controls (proficiency tests).
