Cotecna Guatemala Renews Non-Intrusive X-ray Inspection Services at Puerto Quetzal for Five More Years

Cotecna Inspection de Guatemala is proud to announce the renewal of its contract with Empresa Portuaria Quetzal (EPQ) for the provision of non-intrusive X-ray inspection services at Puerto Quetzal, Escuintla. The new agreement will begin on December 15, 2025, and extend for another five years, continuing a strategic collaboration that has significantly enhanced port security and customs efficiency in Guatemala. 

Originally launched in December 2020, the project introduced an HCVP Z60 portal scanner and Cotecna’s proprietary image analysis system, COVIEW, to facilitate rapid and secure cargo inspections. Over the past five years, this initiative has played a vital role in streamlining clearance processes, reducing inspection times, and supporting the detection of illicit activities without the need for physical cargo handling.

Over the initial five-year period, the service achieved an average operational efficiency of 99.7% availability, using a single scanner to manage both import and export flows—a testament to Cotecna’s reliability and technical excellence.
