The 9th of June is World Accreditation Day (#WAD2021), a global initiative to promote the value of accreditation.
The 2021 theme is “Accreditation: Supporting the Implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals.”
The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) have been developed by the United Nations and are the blueprint for achieving a better and more sustainable future for all. They address the global challenges we face, including poverty, inequality, climate change, environmental degradation, peace and justice. There are 17 goals in total, and they can be grouped into three categories: People, Planet and Prosperity.
To support the implementation of the SDG’s, the International Accreditation Forum (IAF) and the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC) have jointly made available 3 short videos explaining how accreditation can significantly impact the achievement of these goals.
To learn more, please visit the IAF-ILAC YouTube channel, and watch their 3 videos: (1) WAD2021 - Meeting the Needs of People; (2) WAD2021 – Building Prosperity and (3) WAD2021 – Protecting the Planet.
The focus on sustainability is increasing all the time, and it will continue to be a significant challenge for the future, not just for organisations but also for individuals. By achieving accreditation to various management systems and offering services directly connected to these accreditations (for example, ISO 17025 for Laboratories, ISO 22000 for Food Safety Management System certification, and ISO 17065 Product Certification), Cotecna is contributing to the achievement of many of these SDGs.
Accreditations are not just certificates to be displayed; they can – and do – make a significant positive contribution to achieving a better and more sustainable future for all.
