Cotecna Renews 4-Year Contract for Nigeria SONCAP Programme

We are very pleased to announce our reappointment and we will thus continue our collaboration and trusted partnership with SON in supporting the new SONCAP programme started on 1st May 2022.

Following this contract renewal, we would like to give you some information linked to the new SONCAP programme:

Regulated product list

The regulated list includes all imported goods regulated by SON except the following:

• Food products
• Medicines and Pharmaceuticals
• Medicals other than equipment and machines.
• Chemicals used as raw materials by bonafide manufacturers.
• Military wares and equipment
• Imports classified as contraband by the Federal Government of Nigeria.
• Used products other than automobiles.

SONCAP process

In this new programme, one of the main changes will be that both Product Certificates (PC) and SONCAP Certificates (SC) must be issued by the same IAF such as Cotecna.

Our mandate therefore includes one or a combination of the following: product verification, documentation review, consignment inspection, sampling, testing of goods at accredited laboratories, sealing of full-load containers when required, factory audits and delivery of Product Certificate (PC) as well as issuance of a SONCAP certificate (SC).

Fee Structure

The current fees are still applicable. A new fee structure will be implemented on 1st August 2022. We will of course inform you as soon a possible of this new fee structure.
