Cotecna Participates in the Inaugural FSSC Information Day in Johannesburg

Cotecna strengthens industry collaboration and promotes food safety excellence across Africa through its participation in the inaugural FSSC Information Day in Johannesburg.

Cotecna was honoured to participate in the Inaugural FSSC Information Day held in Johannesburg, South Africa, an important gathering focused on advancing food safety, quality and trust across Africa's food sector.

A sincere thank you to FSSC Africa, led by Jason Nyman, and the entire Foundation FSSC team for the invitation and for creating a valuable platform where industry leaders, certification bodies, food manufacturers, and service providers could come together to exchange knowledge, share experiences, and discuss practical solutions for strengthening food-safety systems across the continent.

Food Safety System Certification (FSSC) plays a critical role in supporting organisations across the food supply chain through internationally recognised certification schemes and robust food safety management systems. As African food producers continue to expand into regional and international markets, strong food-safety practices are increasingly important for protecting consumers, building trust, strengthening brand reputation, and meeting regulatory and customer requirements.

The event highlighted the importance of collaboration in driving continuous improvement across the food industry. Discussions focused on industry challenges, emerging trends, and opportunities to enhance food safety performance while supporting sustainable trade and market access throughout Africa.

At Cotecna, we are committed to promoting stronger food-safety practices and helping businesses navigate an increasingly complex food-safety landscape. Through our inspection, testing, verification, audit, and certification services, we support organisations in identifying risks, improving operational processes, ensuring compliance, and demonstrating their commitment to delivering safe and high-quality products to consumers.

The Cotecna delegation was led by Wesley Aondo, Country Manager Kenya and Regional Manager for East and Southern Africa, together with Pretty Hlungoane, Business Development Executive at Cotecna South Africa. The event provided an excellent opportunity to engage with Jason Nyman and the broader FSSC team, strengthen industry relationships, and explore ways to further support food businesses across Africa.
