Cotecna Peru Welcomes UTEC Students for an Inside Look at the Mining Industry

For the third consecutive year, Cotecna Peru opened its doors to students from the Mining Commercialization and Logistics Program at the University of Engineering and Technology (UTEC), reaffirming its commitment to knowledge sharing and professional development within the mining industry. 

This year, approximately 40 students participated in technical visits organized across four sessions. The initiative provided participants with the opportunity to gain firsthand exposure to the processes that support the trading and quality control of minerals and concentrates, complementing their academic knowledge with practical experience in a real operational environment. 

Throughout the visits, Cotecna specialists offered a comprehensive overview of the laboratory processes involved in mineral testing and inspection, from sample reception to the delivery of analytical results. Students learned about key stages such as sampling, mechanical sample preparation, chemical analysis, and quality assurance, essential activities that help ensure reliability and transparency across the mining value chain. 

The visits also highlighted the critical role of inspection, testing, and quality control services in mineral and concentrate transactions, including operations related to receiving, transportation, shipment, and dispatch.
