Cotecna Peru Inaugurates New Geochemical Sample Preparation Laboratory
Cotecna is proud to announce the official inauguration of its new Geochemical Sample Preparation Laboratory in Lima, Peru, a strategic investment designed to enhance our service capacity and support the growing needs of the mining and exploration sector across Latin America.
The opening ceremony took place on Monday, March 2, and was honored by the presence of Romain Petit (Cotecna Chief Operating Officer) and Roberto Cordero (VP LATAM), who joined José Tord (Country Manager Peru) and César Gutierrez (Business Development Manager M&M LATAM and Chile Country Manager) for a tour of the new facilities and a presentation of the laboratory’s capabilities.
STATE-OF-THE-ART INFRASTRUCTURE TO ENSURE QUALITY AND EFFICIENCY
The new laboratory spans 300 m² and features state-of-the-art infrastructure designed to support highquality and efficient sample preparation workflows. A geochemical sample preparation laboratory plays a crucial role in the analytical workflow. Its primary purpose is to receive, process, and condition rock, soil, sediment, or pulp samples, ensuring they are fully homogenized and representative before undergoing chemical or mineralogical analysis. This step is essential to guarantee accurate, traceable, and reliable results.

Our process follows internationally recognized standards to eliminate physical bias, reduce variability, avoid crosscontamination, and deliver samples in the exact format required for analytical testing.

Next Steps in the Analytical Workflow
Once fully prepared, the pulp samples are dispatched to AGS/Cotecna Chile in Coquimbo, where the corresponding geochemical analyses—including ICP-OES, ICP-MS, AAS, IR, fire assay, and more, are performed.
