Cotecna Dubai Embraces Entrepreneurial Thinking

At the recently held Cotecna Dubai Employee Celebration Day, our team came together for an energising and thought‑provoking activity designed to challenge how we think, collaborate, and innovate. The event featured a Shark Tank–style pitch presentation, where employees were divided into groups and tasked with developing practical solutions to real business challenges. 

More than a competition, the activity was intentionally designed to spark entrepreneurial thinking across the team. Everyone was encouraged to step into the mindset of innovators by identifying gaps, developing ideas, and presenting solutions with some friendly competition. This collaborative environment fostered creativity, problem‑solving, and cross‑functional teamwork, allowing participants to draw on diverse perspectives and experiences. 

For many presenters, the experience offered a valuable opportunity to step outside their day‑to‑day roles. Standing in front of peers and judges, teams learned in real time how to clearly communicate an idea, build a compelling case, and persuade an audience. These are essential skills not only for pitching concepts, but also for engaging clients, driving internal initiatives, and leading with confidence. 

Real problems need real solutions 

In total, four groups delivered four unique pitches, each addressing real operational or service‑delivery challenges faced by our teams. The ideas reflected both a strong understanding of our business and a genuine commitment to enhancing the quality of service we provide our clients. The judging panel provided thoughtful feedback, recognising innovation, feasibility, and teamwork. 

The activity reinforced an important insight: innovation thrives when people are trusted to think like entrepreneurs. When teams are empowered to question, experiment, and propose solutions, meaningful progress follows.
