In 2012, Cotecna was accredited by the General Organization for Export and Import Control (GOEIC) to verify the conformity to local standards of all leather, artificial leather and textile products exported to the Arab Republic of Egypt.
Cotecna can accompany exporters and importers throughout the conformity assessment process and in obtaining a Certificate of Conformity (COC) in order to clear their goods at Customs.
On the 16th March 2016, the Egyptian Ministry of Trade and Industry introduced important changes to the Customs Clearance procedure as well as to the list of regulated products subject to conformity assessment. Factories, manufacturers or trademark owners of regulated products must now register with GOEIC to continue to export to Egypt.
Cotecna can also assist exporters with this process and help them receive the necessary GOEIC Registration.

Egypt Conformity Assessment Process
Cotecna’s mandate includes the physical inspection, sampling and testing of goods in fully ISO 17025 accredited laboratories. Factory audits may also be carried out to ensure production is compliant with Egyptian standards.
To assess the conformity of a shipment, the Verification of Conformity process will follow one of the two following routes, depending on the profile of the exporter:
- Route A for exporters with infrequent shipments
- Route B for exporters with regular shipments.
