Following the publication of the Decrees n°992/2015 and n°43/2106 whom entered into force on the 16th March 2016, the Egyptian Ministry of Trade and Industry has introduced important changes to the Customs Clearance procedure as well as to the list of regulated products subject to conformity assessment.
As of this date, manufacturers or trademark owners of regulated products will have to be registered at the General Organization for Export and Import Control (GOEIC) to be able to export products into Egypt.
The list of regulated products, for which a Certificate of Conformity (COC) is required, has been extended to include more product categories such as textile but also food products, electrical & electronics, cosmetics, lamps, toys, furniture, etc.
To get the complete list of new regulated products and detailed information on the registration procedure, we encourage you to contact your nearest Cotecna office.
All shipments arriving in Egypt after the 16th of March 2016 without a registration and a Certificate of Conformity will be rejected at arrival by Customs.
