Geneva, July 10th, 2014
Cotecna, one of the world’s leading international testing, inspection and certification companies, has been appointed by the Kurdistan Standardization and Quality Control Administration (KSQCA) to carry out Verification of Conformity services on goods destined for the autonomous Region of Kurdistan. The contract was signed in Erbil between Cotecna and the KSQCA on July 9th, 2014.
Cotecna will carry out inspections and tests on consumer goods and commodities to ensure their compliance with national and/or international standards and technical requirements. Certificates of Conformity are issued to permit importation into the Region. The objective of this program, introduced by the KSQCA, is to protect consumers and local manufacturers from substandard, counterfeit and potentially dangerous goods.
In addition to its existing contract with COSQC (Baghdad), the new contract with KSQCA (Erbil) expands Cotecna’s area of coverage and border control to all border crossings from neighbouring countries thus strengthening the protection of the entire population.
“We are proud to have been accredited by KSQCA to participate in their program to help protect the population. This new Verification of Conformity contract in the region confirms Cotecna’s reputation as a quality service provider.” said Robert Massey, Cotecna’s CEO.
