Geneva, 10 March, 2009
Cotecna, one of the world’s leading international trade inspection, security and certification companies, is a partner in the 30-month European Commission CREATIF consortium whose objective is to set up a network of testing facilities for security related products and services across the EU. The project comprises testing laboratories, technology users and decision makers.
Workshops organized between the various stakeholders will cover themes such as certification and testing of CBRNE (Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Explosive) detection equipment. Existing testing protocols and relevant standards will be examined to propose harmonization throughout the EU.
Cotecna’s role in the CREATIF project, which was launched in Vienna, Austria, March 3 – 5, 2009, will be to lead the “Operational Testing and Human Factors” work package that includes the development of situational scenarios and performance metrics. Cotecna will also lead the “Future Aspects of Testing” work package which includes the development of a business model and roadmap for future development of the CREATIF network.
It is intended that the CREATIF network will function as an autonomous testing and certification body in the EU after the completion of the project.
Mark Miller, Director of Cotecna Supply Chain Security (COSEC) Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA), said “Cotecna brings its expertise in the understanding of operational scenarios related to the use of security technologies and an understanding of the business modeling and planning that is required in this important program”.
