Togo, 4 March, 2009
Cotecna, one of the world’s leading international trade inspection, security and certification companies, has had its contract with the Togolese government extended until December 31st, 2015, retroactively from February 1st, 2009.
The Pre Shipment Inspection Programme that Cotecna has been managing in Togo since 1994 is in constant evolution, adapting to the modernization efforts of the Togolese Customs.
Togo has a deepwater port whose traffic is significantly increasing. The objectives of the Togolese authorities are to facilitate trade while focusing on an effective fight against Customs fraud, contraband and weapons and drug traffic. In this context, Cotecna will install and operate a new generation 6 MeV relocatable scanner at the Port of Lomé as of October 1st, 2009.
This scanner responds to inspection security preoccupations and is able to detect radioactive materials as well as discriminate between organic and inorganic material. It will perfectly integrate into the development projects of the Port of Lomé that are currently underway.
The 50-people Cotecna Togo team continues to provide quality services in the domains of scanner operation, Customs valuation, pricing and risk analysis.
Robert Massey, CEO Cotecna said; “I am delighted by the confidence our Togolese partners have shown in us. This proves we have the capacity to adapt to the evolution of world trade and to meet the specific needs of our customers.”
