General Manager, Business Development

Job Description

Location: Schiedam, Netherlands

NofaGroup, employing today more than 150 qualified employees, is recognized as a one of the leading laboratories in Europe and a global reference for the testing of edible products.

NofaGroup has been recently acquired by Cotecna Inspection SA, allowing to further consolidate Cotecna’s global reach and capabilities, positioning itself strongly in Europe and within the oil and fat industry, as one of the top inspection, testing and certification players.

The mission of Cotecna Inspection Services BV is currently to conduct quality and quantity inspection of products such as edible oils and fats, meal, cake, oilseeds, grains and Biodiesel (FAME, UCO).

The General Manager Business Development of Cotecna Inspection Services BV (formerly Dr. Bushmeyer) will have overall accountability for the development and diversification of the commercial business in the Netherlands as well as for the management and performance of the entity (operational and financial). His role will also include the development of Cotecna Inspection Services BV in Europe.

Main Accountabilities

  • Keep abreast of market trends, developments, and the general environment (macro- and micro-economic, regulatory, etc.) in Netherlands and neighbouring countries
  • Prepare and propose a development strategy for the entity, including product diversification (i.e. grains, oilseeds and meals), and regional geographical expansion Europe
  • Prepare and present and have approved by management the entity’s 3YP
  • Accountable for the achievement of the entity’s 3YP and associated yearly budgets.
  • Ensure that activity is carried out in full compliance with all Group procedures
  • Manage the entity’s statutory corporate affairs in accordance with local regulations
  • Provide that key managerial positions are properly filled in (i.e. appraisal of current team, retrenchment if needed, recruitment, and compensation policy)
  • Lead team in place (i.e. motivation, development, performance tracking)

  • Achievement of 3YP and yearly budget targets
  • Business development and growth projects proposals
  • Revenue growth
  • Orderly state of corporate affairs
  • Talents acquisition, retention, development and succession planning

Qualification & Experience

  • BA or BSc degree, graduate in business, International trade or equivalent
  • Minimum of 10 years sound professional experience in key managerial domains with financial accountability and project management especially in the region
  • Experience in the inspection industry (oils, grain, fats, oleochemicals and bio-fuels) will be of paramount importance
  • Solid experience in international trade, supply chain and/or quality assurance
  • Very good knowledge of the concerned countries’ environment (Political, Economic and Cultural)
  • Proven track-record in business development
  • Good knowledge of international trade practices
